Along with global organisation, Women in Payments, we recently hosted an industry breakfast event to celebrate diversity and inclusion in payments in recognition of International Women’s Day.
On 26 March 2024, we welcomed six payment and data experts from across the industry to a venue in central London to lead the discussion around the event’s theme – Walking together: Navigating the path to inclusivity.
Over 100 attendees listened as the panel, chaired by our Chief Business Development Officer, Kate Frankish, explored the intricacies of fostering diversity in the payments industry. Featuring two of our Pay.UK colleagues, speakers further discussed what it means to be truly inclusive in the workplace, and shared personal stories and insights into tackling everyday challenges.
A Q&A session ensued, with the panel inviting our audience to openly discuss a range of talking points, including ways to create an even more inclusive working environment and how to ensure equal and fair opportunities in the recruitment process.
Kate Frankish said: “This event surpassed my expectations. The panel was diverse, brave and prepared to share very difficult and personal stories. I walked away from the breakfast with a real sense of support and pride and it reminded me of why I work for a company which truly cares about our colleagues in an industry which still has a way to go.”
We were delighted to be part of this event which further supports our work to promote an inclusive culture at Pay.UK. Our activity to date includes dedicated inclusion training for colleagues, implementation of our ‘race action’ plan, and commitment to the disability-confident scheme. We also have a number of proactive colleague-involvement themed months which enable colleagues to help shape our culture by asking how we can improve even further in promoting an inclusive working environment.
