Engaging with the programme

The views of payment system users – whether you are a consumer, a business, a bank, a charity or a FinTech – are crucial to the development of the New Payments Architecture (NPA). We are committed to delivering an NPA that meets the current needs and future expectations of the industry. Our aim is to engage in the right way for each individual stakeholder – our approach includes (but is not limited to) written consultations, research, bilateral dialogue and working groups.

To support the design and delivery of the NPA, Pay.UK continues to utilise a mix of existing engagement channels including Pay.UK councils and committees. Governance includes two advisory councils – the Participant Advisory Council and the End User Advisory Council. These councils are in place to challenge and advise the Pay.UK Board. We recognise how important that this engagement is two way and, informed by feedback from end users, will help Pay.UK shape a best in class clearing and settlement capability.

Our stakeholder engagement groups

We are committed to ensuring we are engaging our stakeholders and drawing on expertise from across payments ecosystem to support this industry-wide change. This is vital on such a significant programme of work. We are continuously looking at new ways to engage the payments ecosystem on different areas of the programme.

We are working to engage other key groups through new and existing channels to keep you informed of our progress and to provide us with support, knowledge and experience as required. More information on our wider industry engagement is to come soon.

NPA Strategic Participant Group (SPG)

In collaboration with UK Finance we established the NPA Strategic Participant Group (SPG) in March 2020. While the group is not a decision-making body the SPG is a forum for Pay.UK’s participants to use their expertise and knowledge to review and challenge our approach for delivering the NPA and put forward recommendations. Members of the SPG were nominated by UK Finance and the group is jointly chaired by a participant and Pay.UK board member.

NPA Working Groups

The call for interest for the NPA working groups has now closed and we are in the process of launching these groups.

The three working groups are the Proposition Exploration Group, the Technical Working Group and the Legal and Finance Working Group. These groups will support the programme with subject matter expertise on key programme areas, such as user journeys, technical requirements and commercial components.

We will continue to update on the progress of the NPA Programme, including outputs from working groups in a variety of ways. These will include industry-wide webinars, NPA communications and representation at other industry forums. To ensure you receive the most up-to-date information subscribe to receive information on Pay.UK news and events.
