Have you still got questions about Confirmation of Payee?

If you are a bank or building society customer and have questions about Confirmation of Payee, please contact your provider in the first instance

If you are an organisation interested in offering Confirmation of Payee, please be aware that to be eligible, your organisation must:

be an account holding Payment Service Provider (PSP), i.e. reachable by a sort code and account number.

be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or National Competent Authority (NCA) in the Crown Dependencies.

The Payment Systems Regulator issued Specific Direction 17 in October 2022 requiring directed PSPs to provide Confirmation of Payee. You can find out more about Specific Direction 17 here

    If you are a technology solution provider, you do not have to be regulated to provide solutions to account holding PSPs. However, you will also need to sign our standard NDA before we can release any documentation, other than the Confirmation of Payee API Standard which can be accessed here.
